“Coaching has been a godsend for me,”
David admits. “ I did not have the foggiest notion about
where to start. My Coach helped me focus and commit

Nancy: two years into a career going nowhere |

Client |
|
Nancy graduated from the University
of Michigan in 2002 with a degree in
Organizational Studies. While her
degree was quite general, her
interest was really in
Communications, therefore, she
completed several internships to
gain practical experience. The job
market was on quite a decline after
graduating so she snagged the first
job that recruited her after
college. After a year of "putting
up" with a job about which she was
not the least bit content, she took
advantage of a wonderful opportunity
to work abroad and go to Australia.
Nancy assumed she would be able to
find a job quickly upon her return,
however, she was extremely
mistaken. After a month of complete
frustration and discouragement,
Nancy's Mom introduced her to Coach
Jane. |

Situation/Challenges |
|
Being only 2 years out of college,
there was still so much that Nancy
did not know about the job search
process. From perfecting a resume,
to creating personal cover letters,
to selling herself in an interview,
she needed plenty of polishing. The
last thing she wanted was to find
another job going nowhere. She was
determined to begin the path of a
successful career, which is why she
sought out a career coach. Nancy's
goal was to be happy while being
able to support herself as well. |

Coaching Methods
|
|
Coach Jane sent Nancy several sample
resumes to use as templates. She was
thus able to look at other
successful clients and see what they
were doing right and how she could
apply those tips to her resume. She
worked on exercises to determine
what kind of resume would fit the
types of jobs she was after. Once
Nancy did receive offers, she was
given an extremely helpful exercise
which helped her weigh the positives
and negatives of both job offers and
see which one was aligned with her
personal values. |

Coaching Relationship in Nancy’s own words
|
|
“A job!! Jane's guidance, focus and
dedication to my success, helped me
realize my full potential and
ultimately landed me a wonderful job
in advertising. I also gained
confidence that I have what it takes
to be successful and achieve
professional happiness without
settling! Jane is a wonderful
resource and I would call upon her
again in a heartbeat! The process
of finding a career is complicated
and often requires the guidance of
an experienced professional. Jane
invests her time and resources to
make sure that you are on the right
path. I gained endless amounts of
knowledge that I will most
definitely be able to apply to
future situations.”
