Jane
Raitt
coaches a team of
players who are after big stakes - fulfilling and
satisfying jobs based on their strengths, skills and
mission in life.
Helping someone reach
stakes that high may be a lot to ask of a “coach,” but
according to her clients, Raitt knows how to guide and
motivate them to land a job that matches their career and
personal goals.
Raitt works with people
young and old, inexperienced and experienced in the job
world - on a one-on-one through her
business,
Unlock Your Potential, based in West Bloomfield. Since she
does most of her coaching over the telephone, her clients
live in several states. Her seasoned techniques, her
talent and her love of people enable her to successfully
help people in transition.
“People in transition
don’t have a clear view of the next step,” said Raitt,
whose series on changing careers by design, published by
the Wall Street Business and Employment Weekly, remains in
demand. “The key to finding the perfect job is goal
setting and
developing an action plan. I give my clients different
assignments weekly that make them think about things
differently. I coach them to refocus, to reinvent
themselves.”
David Rosenblum was a
recent University of Michigan graduate when he called
Raitt for help. “Jane’s coaching was a
godsend
for me. I didn’t know how to find a job in the field I
wanted,” he said. His career choice was nanotechnology.
Raitt’s techniques fine-tuned his job-hunting and
interviewing skills to the point where Rosenblum is
confident he’ll land a job in his chosen profession.
Jeanette Wareham said she
has Raitt to thank for her new job that’s perfect
professionally and personally. “I recently lost my
job
after working 17 years.” Wareham said. “Thanks to Jane’s
guidance, I learned to articulate not just my
accomplishments but the skills that enabled me to
accomplish what I did. She helped me articulate those
skills to future employers.”
Raitt used her own
techniques years ago to help herself focus on a career as
a career coach. “I think what makes me successful is that
I serve as a sounding board, a mentor and a guide. I’m a
coach, not a therapist,” she explained.
